Bunyan Baptist Church has been loving and serving Stevenage since 1898, taking its name from the historic Christian author and leader John Bunyan. There have been a lot of different things going on over the years, but on this site you’ll find some information about several of the activities we currently offer, and a bit of back ground to the church.
Located on the A1(M) just north of London, Stevenage is a fast-growing New Town of around 90,000 people. Bunyan Baptist Church is situated in the original ‘Old Town’ and welcomes people of all ages, from all backgrounds: normally around 200 on a Sunday morning, 40 on a Sunday evening, and anything from 5-55 people at our midweek groups.
We are an evangelical Baptist church, affiliated to the Baptist Union of Great Britain and the Central Baptist Association. We adhere to the Evangelical Alliance Basis of Faith, aiming to be Christ-centred and Bible-based. Our teaching and activities seek to show that God, as revealed in the Bible, is relevant to life in the 21st century, as we build up, challenge and support our attenders in their faith and witness.
As a church, we aim to excel in offering activities and opportunities that help people grow in their relationship with God. We’ve grown to call these things our “Faith Foundations”, as we believe they form the foundations of our faith! If we partner with God’s Spirit, we will grow in our relationship with God by: engaging with the bible; praying; serving one another; meeting together and sharing our faith. You could expect to bump into at least one of these at every group or service we offer!
We are committed to working with Christians of other denominations and are part of Churches Together in Stevenage.
