Hey guys, starting September I will be beginning a new ad-venture in the way of a gap year with BMS World Mission. Overseas mission has always been something I have felt led to. On two sepa-rate occasions I have gone out to Zim-babwe, during these visits I have been in-volved in projects involving children's work, work as a team in an orphanage and being involved in the local community.. These experiences have only been for a few weeks at a time and I have felt God lead me to something longer term.
This new experience will take me into a foreign culture in Eastern Europe. I will spend a year working with BMS on a team with three other people. The year will in-cluding training, six months overseas and showcasing what the team has done around the UK
Training
The year will start with one month of training and team building in Birmingham at BMS’s International Mission Centre . This will be a chance for me to get to grips with what exactly I will be doing , get to know my team and more about what BMS stands for.
Overseas Mission
From October I will travel to an Eastern European coun-try . I will be working very closely with the team in every-thing I do. We will be involved in a number of different projects and activities including children's work, local com-munity work and church focused discipleship. We will spend about half the year here led by a small number of Local and UK BMS staff.
UK Tour
During the last part of my gap year I will tour with the team to places in the UK telling people about what we did. We will be spending a week in all of our home churches including Bunyan Baptist Church. We will be getting in-volved in all aspects of the church life from children's/ youth clubs to Church services. It will be a good opportu-nity to talk about what we have done overseas and ask share the experience that we have had with BMS.

So how can I help?
There are many ways that you could get involved with this adventure. We need people praying for us over the year and I will keep you updated with what's going on.
The year costs £4.500 including travel, food, insur-ance, accommodation and personal finance. I have already saved £2000 and aim to save more in the next few months.
I need 100 people who would be willing to sponsor me £10 towards the year. This would give me £1000 towards the trip. Every £10 is the equivalent of 3 days of the total year that I am away when combined with the remaining savings. Would you be able to help?
If you are interested and want more information then please speak to me. Details of giving are below. Thank you.
Dave Martin

In September 2011, one of Bunyan's younger members began a year out serving God through a mission agency gap year programme. The year will include one month of training and team-building and six months in Eastern Europe, followed by working with churches around the UK. Due to the sensitive nature of the country where he is going, we cannot mention it here. To receive further information, please see below. The person will be known here and in correspondence as 'Dexter'.

Whilst overseas, Dexter will be involved in a number of different projects and activities including children's work, local community work and church-focused discipleship. The subsequent UK church tour with the team will include telling people about what they did and getting involved in various aspects of church life, from children's/ youth clubs to services.

How Can You Help?

Dexter is very grateful for all the financial contributions he has received from the Church, which have more than covered his needs. He has asked that we continue to support him through prayer during the year ahead. For details of dedicated prayer meetings for Dexter, please speak to Charlotte Beach.
