Bunyan Baptist Church, Stevenage

Who are we?

Bunyan Baptist Church is a friendly, growing church which values the contribution that is made by its broad mix of ages and racial backgrounds. The church community consists of about 330 people, a third of whom are under the age of 18. This includes a recent church plant (Great Ashby Community Church) on a new housing estate to the north of Stevenage.

Bunyan’s mission statement states that: “We exist to Glorify God. We will do this, relying on the power of the Holy Spirit, by worshipping together as God’s family; supporting one another as we grow in our faith; and reaching out with the love and truth of Jesus Christ.”

Actively engaged in many community and midweek activities, Bunyan encourages its members to be seven-day-a-week Christians. Relationships through small groups are a major strength. Broadly evangelical, reflecting the commitment to the Bible as God’s Word, Sunday worship is lively with a full band; the sermon and midweek small groups are central to the community’s listening to God.

Bunyan is committed to relating well to other Christians throughout the town; this is reflected in Bunyan’s active membership of Churches Together in Stevenage and support for the local youth and children’s networks of Cornerstone and Bridge Builders.
