Pentecost Flame challenge

Posted by Bunyan Team on June 4, 2020 at 7:05 PM Comments comments (0)

Last Sunday we had a challenge to create a flame and/or send in a prayer - thank you to those who have been inspired by fruit and flowers! Do send in any more creations!

And here's something that Clare wrote to reflect on:

The flames of love

Entangled from above
Weaving their way all about
Healing our nation from all our doubt
As Months of isolation and solitude roll on
We hope we’ll be able to hug our daughters and sons
This is my prayer and hope for tomorrow
That we will be a better nation with a lot less sorrow
Time will tell but we must be positive and strong
At least it’s what our departed loved ones would have sung!

Last month a new Christian listening and prayer support ministry was launched called New Kapporet.

It's run by lay Christian volunteers and aims to be a space where people are invited to share their hopes and fears, their pain and suffering, and to ask for God's help.

 If this might be something you'd appreciate then find out more through their website: http://newkapporet.org

And here's a link to a picture meditation for Pentecost that you could explore this week as well - it might even inspire your creativity for the Flame challenge: http://godventure.co.uk/news/a-picture-meditation-for-pentecost/

Olive Branch

We thought about the wonderful Olive Branch Network in last Sunday's service!

The Olive Branch Network was established in 2016 and became a Registered Charity in March 2017. The Charity aims to support babies and their parents who are in difficult situations by providing them with Moses baskets filled with much needed essential items.

As they continue to support new mums, the demand for their services are now greater than ever!

Could you help by buying an item from their amazon wish list, and by remembering the work of this charity in your prayers?

You can find out more about the charity, thier incredible work, and other ways of support them at there website: https://www.theolivebranchnetwork.org.uk/donate-items

On Sunday we prayed for the persecuted church inspired by a video produced by Open Doors. Check out their website if you want to find out more and find other inspiration for prayer. The video called "Faith and Danger" reveals some of the challenges faced by those who cannot live our their faith in freedom as we do. Find this and other inspiring videos at: vimeo.com/opendoorsuk

Contribute to the Pentecost Celebration from your home!

Posted by Bunyan Team on May 20, 2020 at 5:00 AM Comments comments (0)

We have had a request from the Thy Kingdom Come Ecumenical Planning Group for Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire.

Jonathan Lloyd from St Albans Abbey is working on a Pentecost Celebration with contributions from across the churches to be shared online on Pentecost Sunday, the 31st May at 6.30pm. As part of this video event he is asking for very short videos of people looking straight into a camera saying just one line, any one line from the Lords Prayer. He would like these in the traditional version(see below) and if people have a second language contributions are also welcome in that language too (although can they be sent with a translation please).

Our Father, who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy name;

thy kingdom come;

thy will be done;

on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation;

but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom,

the power and the glory,

for ever and ever.

Can these videos please be emailed directly to Jonathan at jonathan.lloyd@stalbanscathedral.org
